Historique :	Il s’agit probablement de l’œuvre d’un petit maître local comme il existe beaucoup au 17e siècle, époque où la demande de tableaux religieux est grande.Sans disposer d’un grand savoir-faire, il a su néanmoins représenter la scène avec sensibilité.

Précision_sur la representation :	Le Christ, crucifié, est encadré par sa mère Marie et saint Jean l’Évangéliste. La dramatisation, les effets forcés ne sont pas de mise ici. Le Christ semble jouir d’une mort paisible, tandis que Marie et saint Jean paraissent figés dans une attitude de dignité et de douleur contenue. En partie plongée dans l’obscurité, la scène se situe dans un paysage, au fond duquel se détachent les murs de Jérusalem.
